Probability
Probability and Statistics were my "Asimov" of mathematics. I really struggled with the subjects. I was able to avoid them most of the time. Then my attention turned to Quantum Theory and it is all about probability!
Gauss
Probabilities follow a bell shaped curve attributed to Gauss. There are two parameters.
-
\(\sigma\) the standard deviation of the data
-
\(\mu\) the mean value of the data
The shape of the curve can now be defined.
\[f(x) = \frac{1}{\sigma\sqrt{(2\pi)}}e^{-\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{x - \mu}{\sigma}\right)^2}\]
