Dr Phill’s Science Made Simple

The 11 July 2010 total eclipse was Phill’s seventh and Steve’s fourth. We were booked on a trip to Tahiti. This time we went with Astro Trails as Roy Mayhugh had stopped operating. We saw the eclipse from a small island called Anaa.

We we partially obscured by cloud which resulted in some interesting effects. We were able to view the eclipse for much longer than usual as the clouds cut down the light before second contact and after third contact.

This was the 27th eclipse of Saros 146. Totality lasted 2 minutes 24 seconds from our viewpoint. At third contact we were at 17°21.996’S 145°30.113’W.
