Solar eclipses of Saros 126 all occur at the Moon’s descending node and the Moon moves Northward with each eclipse.

  • The series began with a partial eclipse in the Southern hemisphere on 10 March 1179.

  • The series will end with a partial eclipse in the Northern hemisphere on 3 May 2459.

  • The total duration of Saros series 126 is 1280.14 years.

  • The longest total eclipse of this Saros was the 45th on 10 July 1972 which lasted 2 minutes 36 seconds.

  • The Saros is composed of 71 eclipses of which 31 are partial, 28 are annular, 10 are total and 3 are hybrid.
